I apologize for the late review of Day 8…today has been a very busy day so this is my 1st chance to write a review.

Day 8 is obviously the start of Week 2 of 3 of the Reset. Whereas Week 1 was labeled, “Reclaim,” Week 2 is labeled “Release” for obvious reasons.

My meals for Day 8 consisted of the following:

Breakfast – Blueberries (1 cup), Navel Orange (7 segments), Grapes (1 cup)

Obviously this is an easy meal to “make” so not only is it very tasty, it’s quick and effortless!!!

Lunch – Microgreen Salad, Creamy Garlic Dressing, Avoacado (1/8 sliced)

So there I was in Day 8 of 21 of the Reset eating another salad. Although I do like salad a lot, I will say this Reset makes the taste of lettuce get old real quick!!! I did switch up the dressing for this week which was a nice change, but I’m kinda over eating salad. I will say though that these salads are very easy to make so they have that going for them.

Dinner – Pinto Beans and Rice, Zucchini (1 cup), String Beans w/Lemon

Now this is more like it!!! Although I’m not a big fan of zucchini, I do love beans and rice and I love string beans even more! All 3 of these things were easy to make and the string beans w/lemon recipe is one that I will use long after the Reset as it makes the string beans even more delicious than usual!

Supplements for Day 8:

All the supplements are the same as week 1, but a “Detox” packet is added 3x/day…before breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’ve read numerous reviews of people complaining about the taste of the “Detox,” but IMO, the “Alkalanize” is still worse…haha.

Closing out my review of Day 8, here are my 2 favorite things about the Reset so far as well as my 2 least favorite things about the Reset:

Favorite

1) I do not like to cook. This is the main reason I’m overweight, out of shape, etc. Through the 1st 8 days of the Reset, I’m pleasantly surprised at how easy the recipes are and this is coming from someone who can barely tell the difference between a spoon and a fork…lol.

2) I love fruit and this Reset includes eating a lot of fruit so if you’re a fruit lover like I am, the Reset is definitely for you!!!

Least Favorite

1) I understand the importance of drinking water throughout the day, but there has to be something else we can drink that isn’t bad for you like soda, coffee, etc. Drinking over 100 ounces of water/day is becoming  redundant and my taste buds are yearning for something different.

2) I’ve wasted a lot of food on the Reset. The ingredient list for the most part includes portions that are very small so when you use what you need to make a meal, you have a lot left over that won’t be used again. Not only is the Reset expensive, but I hate to waste food.

All in all, I’m very happy after the 1st 8 days of the Reset that I took this challenge. 8 down, 13 to go!!!

Ultimate Reset Day 5 Review

Yesterday was Day 5 of the the Beachbody Ultimate Reset, here’s my review.

MEALS:

BREAKFAST – Oatmeal (1 cup) w/Maple Syrup (1 Tbsp), Walnuts (3 Tbsp), and Blueberries/Strawberries (3/4 cup)

LUNCH –  Quinoa Salad, Hummus (1/3 cup), Vegetable Plate (10 Baby Carrots, 10 Grape Tomatoes, 10 Slices Red Bell Pepper, and 5 String Beans)

SNACK – Apple w/Peanut Butter

DINNER – Miso Soup, Stir-Fried Veggies, Brown Rice (1/2 cup), Nori Gomasio

I liked all three meals. This is the first time I tried hummus…loved it!!!

SUPPLEMENTS (same for each day of week 1):

MINERALIZE – 4 pinches

OXYGENIZE – 30-45 drops

OPTIMIZE – 6 capsules

ALKALINIZE – 1 packet

Different day, same opinion of the Alkalinize…nasty!

WATER (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT):

Drinking DISTILLED water is extremely important during the Reset. Headaches can be a side effect of the Ultimate Reset as your body is getting rid of all the toxins so staying hydrated is key to helping keep the headaches to a minimum (I haven’t had any yet…knock on wood). I continue to drink a gallon of water (128 ounces) today and will continue to do so for the entirety of the Reset. From my understanding, you’re supposed to drink (in ounces) “half your weight” so considering my weight was 258 on Monday, a gallon of water is recommended.

TIME-LINE:

7:10am – Supplements (MINERALIZE/OXYGENIZE/OPTIMIZE)

7:40am – Breakfast

11:20pm – Supplements (MINERALIZE/OXYGENIZE/OPTIMIZE)

11:50pm – Lunch

3:20pm – Supplements (MINERALIZE/ALKALINIZE)

3:50pm – Snack

7:00pm – Supplements (MINERALIZE/OXYGENIZE/OPTIMIZE)

7:30pm – Dinner

THOUGHTS AFTER DAY 5:

5 days in and I still haven’t had a diet soda!!!

As far as my hunger level today, I was hungriest after dinner again, but I was able to  withstand the cravings and didn’t eat anything post-dinner.  Through the first five days of the Reset, my after-dinner cravings were the worst last night…still not as bad as they usually are, but worse than they were during Days 1-4. In general, Day 5 was the toughest so far. I was hungry pretty much all day…hoping this subsides.

My energy level was better yesterday, but still not to the level I’m hoping for.

GOALS (Reiterated):

1) Although losing weight is not my main goal of the Reset, I would like to lose 15 lbs after the 21st day and get down to 243.

2) My main goal is to get my body in a better “state” after 21 days as I hope to start INSANITY after finishing the Reset. I tired INSANITY before, but I was in such terrible shape, I only last about 5 days. I’m hoping that after completing this Reset, my body will be better able to handle the INSANITY workouts.

3) After the 21 days are complete, I hope to actually enjoy cooking and I hope to have gained a liking for 4-5 meals that are included in the Reset that I can make on a regular basis. So far, through 3 days, I will say my favorite meals have been the Oatmeal & Yogurt as part of breakfast of Day 2 as well as the Day 2 Dinner of Black Beans & Rice. I will definitely eat these meals post-Reset.

That’s all for now regarding Day 5 of 21 of the Ultimate Reset.

If you have any questions or suggestions to make the Reset better, easier, etc, please feel free to leave them in this thread.

Thanks!

Jimmy

Ultimate Reset Day 4 Review

Yesterday was Day 4 of the the Beachbody Ultimate Reset, here’s my review.

MEALS:

BREAKFAST – Fresh Fruit Plate (2 cups), Organic Plain Yogurt (1/2 cup) w/Maple Syrup (1 Tbsp), Whole-Grain Toast (1 slice)

LUNCH –  Lentil Lime Salad, Microgreen Salad w/Basic Vinaigrette Dressing (substituted for Day 4 lunch because I couldn’t find Tempeh Strips)

SNACK – Apple w/Peanut Butter

DINNER – Stir-Fried Veggies, Cucumber and Tomato Salad, Quinoa (3/4 cup)

Post-Dinner Snack – Green Apple

The recommended lunch was Nori Rolls w/Tempeh, but I couldn’t find Tempeh Strips so I substituted the same lunch that is suggested for day 3. All three portions of dinner were really good! Last night was the first time I tried Quinoa and I was pleasantly surprised. As for the post-dinner snack, for the first time during the Reset, I was really hungry after dinner so I figured having an apple wasn’t the worst thing in the world…better than what I usually eat in that situation (McDs, Burger King, etc).

SUPPLEMENTS (same for each day of week 1):

MINERALIZE – 4 pinches

OXYGENIZE – 30-45 drops

OPTIMIZE – 6 capsules

ALKALINIZE – 1 packet

Different day, same opinion of the Alkalinize…nasty!

3:45pm – Supplements (MINERALIZE/ALKALINIZE)

4:15pm – Snack

8:10pm – Supplements (MINERALIZE/OXYGENIZE/OPTIMIZE)

8:40pm – Dinner

10:30 – Post-Dinner Snack

THOUGHTS AFTER DAY 4:

4 days in and I still haven’t had a diet soda!!! I will admit though that as the days go by, it’s getting a little harder to stay away from diet soda. I find that my biggest temptation is during meals especially when I eat something like Quinoa.

As far as my hunger level today, I was hungriest after dinner so I decided to have a snack (Green Apple). Yes, I know this isn’t recommended, but as I mentioned above, I didn’t feel so bad considering I would nromally make a run to McDs or Burger King given the same situation in the past. Through the first four days of the Reset, my after-dinner cravings were the worst last night…still not as bad as they usually are, but worse than they were during Days 1-3.

In regards to my energy level, I started to feel a difference yesterday in the afternoon. Normally when I get home from work, I’m exhausted, but I felt a lot better yesterday. Hopefully that was the start of an increased energy level due to the Reset!

QUESTIONS FOR MARCUS (sorry to ask again…didn’t see an answer to this one yesterday):

1) What is the optimal amount of sleep I should get every night? 8 hrs? 7 hrs? More?

GOALS (Reiterated):

1) Although losing weight is not my main goal of the Reset, I would like to lose 15 lbs after the 21st day and get down to 243.

Ultimate Reset Day 3 Review

Today was Day 3 of the the Beachbody Ultimate Reset, here’s my review.

MEALS:

BREAKFAST – Scrambled Eggs, Whole-Grain Toast, Kale w/Pine Nuts

LUNCH –  Lentil Lime Salad, Microgreen Salad w/Basic Vinaigrette Dressing

SNACK – Apple w/Peanut Butter

DINNER – Tropical Shakeology w/Frozen Mixed Berries

Breakfast was the same as Day 1. Lunch was somewhat of a new meal as it included a Lentil Lime Salad which personally, I was somewhat indifferent towards as it didn’t really have much taste. The recommended dinner was Nori Rolls w/Tempeh, but I couldn’t find Tempeh Strips so I substituted the Tropical Shakeology w/Frozen Mixed Berries. I know it’s ok to substitute the Tropical Shakeology for a meal, but I’m not sure if it matters which meal…hope not…Marcus? I blended a scoop of the Shakeology w/Frozen Mixed Berries and 8 ounces of water and it was really good!!!

SUPPLEMENTS (same for each day of week 1):

MINERALIZE – 4 pinches

OXYGENIZE – 30-45 drops

OPTIMIZE – 6 capsules

ALKALINIZE – 1 packet

Different day, same opinion of the Alkalinize…nasty!

WATER (EXTREMELY IMPORTANT):

Drinking DISTILLED water is extremely important during the Reset. Headaches can be a side effect of the Ultimate Reset as your body is getting rid of all the toxins so staying hydrated is key to helping keep the headaches to a minimum. Based on my weight this morning (258), I decided to drink a gallon of water (128 ounces) today and will continue to do so for the entirety of the Reset. From my understanding, you’re supposed to drink (in ounces) “half your weight.”

3:25pm – Supplements (MINERALIZE/ALKALINIZE)

3:55pm – Snack

8:00pm – Supplements (MINERALIZE/OXYGENIZE/OPTIMIZE)

8:30pm – Dinner

THOUGHTS AFTER DAY 3:

3 days in and I still haven’t had a diet soda!!! I know it sounds lame, but I’m kinda proud of myself for this because I really am addicted to diet soda.

As far as my hunger level today, I was hungriest between lunch and dinner so I decided to have a snack again today. As I mentioned yesterday, one of my biggest problems in terms of eating healthy is that I eat late at night and to make it worse, I eat terrible food late at night. Through the first three days of the Reset, my after-dinner cravings haven’t been that bad…nowhere near as bad as they usually are.

I wasn’t as sluggish and exhausted today as I was yesterday, but I’m starting to wonder when I’ll actually feel the positive effects of the Reset. Hopefully I will feel a jolt of energy over the next few days because that is one of the positive effects of the Reset that made me want to complete the program.

QUESTIONS FOR MARCUS:

1) I hate to ask this…I haven’t done a #2 since Monday…is this normal?

2) What is the optimal amount of sleep I should get every night? 8 hrs? 7 hrs? More?

GOALS (Reiterated) (#3 IS AN ADDITION):

1) Although losing weight is not my main goal of the Reset, I would like to lose 15 lbs after the 21st day and get down to 243.

2) My main goal is to get my body in a better “state” after 21 days as I hope to start INSANITY after finishing the Reset. I tired INSANITY before, but I was in such terrible shape, I only last about 5 days. I’m hoping that after completing this Reset, my body will be better able to handle the INSANITY workouts.

How Does Shakeology Work?

How Does Shakeology Work

How Does Shakeology Work?

I get asked the question all of the time, “how does Shakeology work?” This is kind of a vague question, but I think I understand what these people are asking. These people want to know if Shakeology does work, and what exactly is in it that makes it so good for the body?

How Does Shakeology Work?

Shakeology is made up of over 70 high quality ingredients, some of these ingredients are considered “superfoods”. All of Shakeology’s ingredients are all natural, and it contains no preservatives or artificial flavors. In addition to being healthy for you, Shakeology tastes delicious. You will be shocked at how great Chocolate Shakeology tastes, it really does taste like an ice cream milkshake that you would get in a local diner.

I have a different opinion on taste when it comes to the Greenberry flavor, to be completely honest I’m not a fan of it. Although different recipes can be used to change the flavor or Greenberry, and because taste is subjective to each individual anyhow, you can give it a try and form your own opinion of it yourself, you might love it. Just because I don’t like the taste of Greenberry Shakeology doesn’t mean that you won’t. I hope that you take comfort in the fact that just because I am a Beachbody Coach, I don’t just automatically say,”Greenberry Is Delicious!” I wouldn’t feel right flat out lying like that, this is how you know I am telling the truth about the taste of  Chocolate Shakeology, it really does taste great.

Another flavor has recently been added to the Shakeology family, Tropical. It actually was released today, I’ve placed my order and am excited to receive it so I can taste it, I’ll be sure to make a post giving my review of it.

So back to the original question, how does Shakeology work? Shakeology “works” because it is healthy for you. Shakeology can be used as a meal replacement shake, or a midday snack. The concept behind the meal replacement strategy is very simple. If you want to lose some weight, replace one meal a day with Shakeology. Depending on what your normal diet consist of, Shakeology is most likely much better for you than what you are normally eating for breakfast or lunch.

How Does Shakeology Work? – Watch The Video Below

Shakeology is a complex product so I feel like I don’t give it justice when some one asks me, “how does Shakeology work? My best advice is to not take my word for it, but the watch the video below and hear what the experts have to say about Shakeology. I can tell you that it tastes great, curbs my cravings, and gives me energy, but the experts in the video below will be able to give a more in depth look into how Shakeology actually works.

Rob’s P90x Results Video And Photos

Here is Rob’s P90x results video. Rob had put on “happy” weight after getting married and had gotten up to 250 pounds and decided it was time to make a change. Rob had great results with P90x.

This is what Rob had to say:

“Five years ago when I met my wife, I was 225 and I gained a little happy weight over the first 3, 4 years of our marriage and got up to about 250, the biggest I had ever been . . . Me as a guy, the last thing ever I thought I would be doing is sitting in my living room, working out in front of a TV. It’s just something I always saw my mom or my sister doing aerobics. And it’s amazing. I’m sitting here working in front of the TV and I don’t feel funny . . . I’ve got a great personal trainer, just right there, telling me what moves to do, when to do ‘em, how to do ‘em, and just guide me through a process. And all you have to do is just follow it . . . It’s not easy by any means, but if you commit to it, the way that you feel after each workout is amazing ’cause you feel like you’ve just conquered the world, and you’re excited to even go back and do it the next time . . . You want this, so get it done.”

Bill's P90x ResultsThis is Bill’s story. At 56 years old he is in great shape. After a really bad bike crash Bill had to have neck surgery and now has 2 titanium rods in his neck. His insurance would not cover the physical therapy he needed to get his strength back. Bill’s girlfriend recommended instead of physical therapy he do P90x. Bill had great results and is proof that P90x does work for older people to.

“Before P90X, I couldn’t do any pull-ups. I was out mountain biking one day and went over a ramp, and the trajectory flipped me over backwards and broke my neck. When I heard the snap, I thought I was gonna be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. After the surgery, they put titanium rods in my neck, and the insurance company told the physical therapy people that they don’t cover physical therapy. And it was at that point my girlfriend Lisa, she said, ‘Well, I’m doing these videos. Maybe you can just do these videos and get your strength back.’ Tony, the trainer, just makes it fun, keeps you going. Once you push the play button, the workouts just fly . . . People look at me and they can’t believe that this body is 56 years old. And I love it; it’s great. Thank you, Tony. Thank you, P90X.”

P90x ReviewToday was day 15 of my P90x workout and the workout was chest and back and ab ripper x. I missed a day last week so yesterday I did the P90x stretch routine and instead of doing the kenpo x workout I went to my muay thai kickboxing class. I probably could of skipped the stretch but I need all the flexibility help I can get.

Anyhow, today’s chest and back workout went very well. It was my third time doing this workout and I feel like it is getting a little bit easier. Today was the first time using the push up stands and they do make a difference. The push up stands enable me to bring my chest down further providing a wider range of motion, I could definitely feel the difference and the amount of push up reps I was able to do stayed the same and in some cases a little lower.

Ab Ripper X followed the chest and back workout. As Tony Horton says, “Ab ripper x…I hate it…But I love it.” That’s how I feel too. It is a tough routine but I’ve been increasing getter better and better.

About 4 hours after my workout I went my jiu jitsu class and my chest and back muscles were still fatigued. To make things worse at the end of the class we did push ups, I could barely do 20, it was the worse.
