Why Is Shakeology So Damn Expensive?
After shipping and taxes, 1 serving of Shakeology cost over $4. That is almost up as the same price as a bottle of beer at a strip club, or a pack of cigarettes. Ridiculous right?
Maybe not. Let’s consider first that Shakeology is a meal replacement shake. It can be used as a mid day snack, but was originally designed to be used as a meal replacement. What is the average cost of a meal? I know when I was working in the construction business, I would spend close to $10 a day for lunch at an IHOP or Chili’s. If someone is using Shakeology to replace a meal they are most likely saving money.
Another thing to consider is the cost of ingredients that go into Shakeology. Beachbody has this thing about using only the highest quality ingredients (which is a good thing). This makes the price go up, but also the quality. When creating Shakeology they didn’t want to take any shortcuts.
So What Is Actually In Shakeology
Recently a fellow Beachbody Coach, Blake Warrington did a little experiment. He wanted to see if he could put together a homemade Shakeology alternative himself buy going to the grocery store and buying all the ingredients himself. This is what he came up with.

Shakeology Ingredients
That is Blake’s receipts below totaling $483! $4 a serving for Shakeology is starting to look like a bargain.

Shakeology Ingredients Receipts Totaling $483.12
The is what Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler had so say about this experiment-“Awesome demonstration Blake. And even if someone did assemble all that, I am willing to bet that most if not all of those ingredients are not sourced at the same high standards as we use, and they are likely processed so they can stay on the shelf longer. That means the potent properties are cooked and killed before they ever get into the bottle. Not Shakeology – as close to fresh as it comes without picking it off the tree! And do you know how hard it would be to make that $481 concoction taste good? You would throw it all away after one sip. Not Shakeology. I am so proud of this product!“
Which would you rather do? Take 38 supplements every day that will cost you over $483.12 every month, or with just one scoop each day of a great tasting meal replacement shake that will cost you just $119.95 per month (just $4 a day – like a coffee and bagel, but WAY better for you

Regardless of how much it costs to buy individually or not, most people still can’t afford $120 a month! I have tried a few samples of Shakeology, and I really liked it. I think it is pretty awesome stuff and a very healthy shake, and I would love to buy some, but I can’t afford $120 a month!
Miranda, Shakeology is a meal replacement shake. Compare to meal from McDonalds costs about $5-$6, but doesn’t even provide half of the nutritional value you will get from Shakelogy. When considering the nutrition if provides, Shakeology is a great value.
But I don’t eat at McDonalds… nor do I spend $5-$6 on a meal. This would make Shakeology my most expensive meal of the day. And this meal would only have 140 calories, which isn’t enough. So I’d have to eat something else to go along with it just to get enough calories.
It is too expensive. Maybe if it was half the price I’d go for it.
I’d buy this for a couple of months if it was in the UK, hurry beachbody and get over here!
Anybody, If you know when it would possibly come over to the UK then give me a shout.
Why are you compering to McDonalds as if anyone eats it every day like you would shakelogoy? It is NOT a fair statement. You can not really put value on health but this is not a reason for BeachBody to rob people blind with its pricing.
It would be like saying hey crack is way more expensive and shakeology is better for you. Who is to say that you *need* all those supplements anyhow.
I love BB products but their sleazy way to being ‘all in one’ shop for WAY overpriced nutrition and gear is really pushing me away.
Ummm HELLO! Shakeology isn’t 119.95! Plus shipping and tax the price jumps to 140!!!!! It’s not worth it for a simple shake to replace only ONE meal. I spend 140 in groceries alone on SEVERAL meals. I wanted to try it out but I will NEVER buy this product until the coo coo CEO drops the price. I don’t care how many high quality ingredients are in it.
Cindy, you may be the “coo coo” one…lol. If you order it on home direct the shipping is free, which makes it about $4.35 a serving. Millions of people spend more than that a day on lattes at Starbucks and value meals at McDonalds. Considering that 5 Hour Energy costs $2.99, and has absolutely no nutrition value, $4.35 per serving for something the is loaded with nutrition is a fair price. You can’t put a price tag on good health and quality of life. Most people have it backwards, they spend their hard earned money on fancy cars and big houses, but when they go the grocery store they look for the cheapest thing, which is usually also the unhealthiest thing. I’ve personally seen customers who’s lives have been changed, they’ve been able to go off their blood pressure meds, and cholesterol meds, because of Shakeology, too me, Shakeology is definitely worth the price. But don’t take my word for it, see what Doctors are saying about Shakeology in the video here: http://bit.ly/At7DLJ
Another selling point filled ad for Shakeology. Effective, but deceptive. 4$ a day for a glorified meal replacent drink is simply not a good deal. It’s not. I drink Garden of Life Raw Meal. It’s organic, raw, vegan, non dairy, non gluten, gentle on your stomach. It contains probiotics, 25 superfoods, sprouts, greens and it’s an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. It has 34 grams of protein, and 9 grams of fiber. And did I mention it’s ORGANIC? And you can buy it online for a discounted price of 39.95$! I’m sorry, but there’s absolutely no excuse to me to charge so much for Shakeology. If people are willing to pay for it for their health, that’s on them. But making people think there’s absolutely no affordable alternative for people who simply cannot swing it is, to me, wrong and does not sound very supportive of those who want to get healthy on any budget. Shame on you Beach Body and your glorified sales people, “coaches.”
And I’m sick of you guys throwing things about Starbuck’s and McDonald’s and luxury cars and homes and five hour energy drinks into your ads, as if everyone indulges in all these things instead of investing in their health and buying Shakeology. What a weasel-y selling scheme.
