Why I Failed As A Beachbody Coach

Yesterday I got a phone from a guy that was interested in becoming a Beachbody Coach and he just wanted to ask me a few questions before he signed up. One of the questions that he asked is, “why do you think that most Beachbody Coaches fail in this business?

This is actually kind of a hard question to answer, because the questions itself isn’t true. Answering this question is like answering the question, why is grass purple?…How can you answer that?

First of all, “most” Coaches don’t fail. It is actually impossible to fail as a Beachbody Coach (read my post about this here). The only way for a Beachbody Coach to fail is to quit.

Before we can talk about the cause of failure in this business, we first need to define what failure actually is. Every Coach gets involved in this business for different reasons. Some Beachbody Coaches want to run their own home based business with the primary goal of making money, some Coaches get signed up just for the 25% discount they’ll receive on their own personal purchases, some get signed up because they just want to help people get healthy and fit, etc. There are many different reasons why people decide to become Beachbody Coaches.

So how can we really define “FAILURE”, in this business? The cost to get started is very low, and even free for those that purchase a Challenge Pack during the sign up process, which means it is hard to spend or lose a lot of money in this business. Is “breaking even” considered failing?

What if someone is a Coach that is saving $30 a month on their Shakeology because of the 25% Coach discount they get, is that “failing” as a Beachbody Coach?

What about the Coach that hasn’t made many sales, but the customers he/she has sold to went on to complete their workout programs, get in great shape, and completely transform their health, is this failing because not much money was generated?

My answer would be no, this is not failing, to all of the above scenarios. Because the advantages of being a Beachbody Coach outweigh the cost of becoming a Beachbody Coach, it really is impossible to fail.

Now if you are someone that is totally in it for the money, and looking to “get rich quick”, it is possible to fail at that. It is important to understand that as a Beachbody Coach, you are a business owner, and that it is in no way a get rich quick scheme. There is potential to earn a very lucrative income, but it won’t come quick, and it won’t come easy.

In order to earn the “big” money as a Beachbody Coach you will have to treat your business like a “REAL” business and not just a hobby.  You will have to put in the time and effort needed to grow your business.

Because the cost to get started is so low, I think that many people sign up to be a Beachbody Coach with a, “I’ll give this a try” mentality.  What is required to succeed is a, “I’m going to make this work no matter what” mentality.

Do you see the difference?

The point is, the  majority people that do fail as Beachbody Coaches have probably signed up with false expectations. They thought it was going to be easy, and that all they would have to do is make a few posts on their facebook wall, and people would flock to them, and money would start to magically appear from the sky. Once they realized real effort and real work was involved, they gave up and bailed. This isn’t a business that is for everyone. It really is entry level entrepreneurship, which means there is a learning curve involved for most people. This business takes effort, and if you are not willing to put in the effort required, for a long period of time, this business is probably not for you.
